In our daily lives, whether at home or on the go, we are likely to encounter minor injuries that require emergency treatment. In order to ensure that you can effectively deal with these situations, it is essential to have a well-equipped aid kit. Below you will find a detailed guide to the essential tools and tips for home life care to help you act quickly in an emergency.

Essential wound care products for your home :

1. Medical tape: Used to secure bandages and dressings. There are several types, including silicone gel tape, cloth tape, and waterproof tape.

2. Iodine cotton swab: used to clean wounds and prevent bacterial invasion.

3. Earloop masks: Protect patients and caregivers from airborne pathogens and bacteria.

4. Gauze roll: used to wrap wounds, provide cushioning, and absorb excess fluid.

5. Medical surgical sheet: forms a sterile area around the wound to reduce the risk of infection.

6. Antibacterial ointment: used to prevent wound infection.

7. Functional wound dressings :

- Hydrocolloid dressings: Suitable for wounds with mild to moderate exudate, keep the wound moist and promote healing.

- Alginate dressing: highly absorbent, suitable for sinus wounds and allergic skin, very gentle.

- Foam dressings: Foam dressings are for moderate to heavily exuding wounds, with high absorbency and pain relief.

8. Scissors: used to cut bandages or dressings.

9. Physiological saline: used for cleaning wounds and disinfection.

1 0. Self-adhesive elastic bandage: widely used, suitable for various wound care.

Basic wound care steps:

clean :

Use soap or saline to remove dirt from the surface of the wound, then use an iodine-containing cotton swab to disinfect in a circular motion from the inside to the outside (repeat this step twice), wait until it is dry, and then cover the wound with a functional wound dressing.

Use functional wound dressings:

Choose the appropriate size dressing according to the wound condition, cut it with scissors (make sure the edge is 3cm larger than the wound edge when cutting), press gently after applying, and then change it every 1-4 days according to the exudate situation. You can repeat the above method to change the wound dressing.

Secondary dressing:

Some dressings require additional padding, protection, and fixation, which can be reinforced with silicone gel tape and self-adhesive bandages.
