Wounds at joints easily open

Wounds at joints, especially those at curved joints like knees and elbows, are often difficult to relieve due to frequent movements and high tension. During the healing process of wounds at these locations, if the skin tension on both sides is too high, it is easy to cause wound rupture, poor healing, widening of scars, and even scar hyperplasia. Therefore, for wound care at joints, it is particularly important to choose dressings.

Superficial wounds in joints:

When choosing dressings for superficial joint wounds, we can use functional dressings such as gel spray, which can not only protect the wounds from invasion by foreign microorganisms but also accelerate wound healing.

Deep and large wounds at joints:

When choosing dressings for this type of wound, the following aspects need to be considered:

Viscosity: Due to the frequent movements of the joints, the tension reducer needs to have strong viscosity to ensure that it does not fall off easily during the movement.

Elasticity: The joints need to bend and stretch, and have good elasticity and ductility to adapt to the flexible movement of the joints and provide a continuous and stable tension-reducing effect.

In summary, we recommend the use of overlapping dressings. For scratched wounds, a tension reducer can be used and then matched with self-adhesive elastic tape to prevent the wound from expanding and widening. For wounds with a lot of exudate, dressings that absorb exudate better should be used. Silicone gel foam dressings combined with self-adhesive elastic bandages can make the dressing firm and speed up the healing of the wound.

Wound care tips :

Clean the wound: Use normal saline to rinse, and then use iodine to disinfect the wound. During the healing period of the joint wound, reduce strenuous activities such as walking, but avoid strenuous exercise to prevent the wound from splitting.

Through the above measures, wounds at the joints can be effectively cared for, the risk of scar hyperplasia can be reduced, and wound healing can be promoted. It is important that patients follow the doctor's instructions and adjust the care plan according to the specific conditions of the wound.
