How to treat low-temperature burns?

Burns are a common accidental injury that not only causes pain but can also to severe skin damage. Correct treatment is essential to relieve pain, prevent infection, and promote wound healing. Let's take a look at the role of hydrogel dressings in treatment.

After the burn occurs, the initial treatment measures are:

1. Cool the wound: Place the burned area under running cold water for at least 10 minutes to relieve pain and reduce the depth of the burn. Avoid using ice water, as excessive cold may cause tissue damage.

2. Avoid breaking the skin: Do not puncture blisters as this increases the risk of infection.

3. Clean the wound: Clean the wound gently and avoid using soap or other substances that may irritate the wound.

4. Apply hydrogel dressing to the affected wound.

Why use hydrogel dressings?

Hydrogel dressings are semi-solid materials composed of water and polymers. They are used after the wound has been cooled to provide local cold therapy and help reduce pain and swelling. They lock in moisture, keep the wound moist, and avoid pain and itching caused by dryness. They also provide a moist environment for the wound. This moist environment helps promote wound healing, reduce scar formation, and relieve pain.

Handling of special situations :

In follow-up wound care, if there is a lot of dead flesh on the wound, severe inflammation and infection, or allergies, the treatment needs to be more cautious, the medication should be stopped immediately, and other medications should be replaced under the guidance of the doctor. If there is a lot of dead flesh on the wound, the nurse should help with the debridement, and the wound should be rechecked regularly in the hospital so that the doctor can evaluate the wound recovery and adjust the treatment plan.

Proper treatment of burns is essential to prevent infection and promote healing. With proper management and treatment, burn patients can avoid serious complications and achieve a good recovery.
