Frequently Asked Questions about

Neonatal Stoma Care Dear parents, when your little angel comes into this world and brings you endless joy and expectations, we know that you pay special attention to every detail of your baby. Especially in the care of neonatal colostomy, the correct care method is not only related to the health of the baby but also an important guarantee for the baby's future growth. The following is an answer to the common questions about neonatal colostomy care, hoping to provide you with some help on the road of parenting.

Question 1: Will the bleeding baby feel pain?

No, because there are no pain nerves in the intestines, so although there may be a lot of blood, the baby does not have a very painful reaction.

Question 2: What should I do if there is bleeding?

If the stoma intestines are only slightly bleeding, you don't need to intervene too much after cleaning and wait for healing. If it is a skin break bleeding, cleaning and anti-inflammatories should be in place.

If the bleeding is severe, you can use alginate particles to spray and cover the wound to stop bleeding. And try to avoid the baby scratching rolling over and crawling to rub the wound.

Question 3: What is the effect and principle of alginate dressing?

1. Hemostasis: Induces platelet activation, produces coagulation factors and growth factors, and plays a role in hemostasis and accelerated healing.

2. Accelerates wound healing: Alginate dressings also have good biocompatibility, can closely combine with wound tissue, and promote wound healing. Forming gel, maintaining moisture on the wound, accelerating granulation growth and epithelial crawling,

has good biocompatibility, and has good A+/CA+ ion exchange with exudate, increasing the A+ concentration of the wound.

Tips for baby ostomy care:

During the nursing process, you should be gentle and be careful not to damage the intestinal mucosa. Avoid rough force that may cause intestinal mucosal damage and bleeding. If the ostomy bag leaks, it should be replaced in time to avoid fecal fluid and other things corroding the skin and causing redness, swelling, and bleeding.

If the bleeding is severe, it needs to be disinfected with saline, and then alginate dressings are applied to cover and stop bleeding.
