As I learned more about bedsore care, I was deeply shocked by a real-life case. Yu's mother was bedridden for a long time due to a fall. What was originally just a reddish patch on her sacrococcygeal bone gradually turned into a shocking wound due to her ignorance and contempt for bedsores.
At first, the blush didn't attract enough attention. It wasn't until signs of peeling and ulceration appeared that Yu Yu was shocked to realize the seriousness of the situation. She anxiously flipped through the web, trying to find a solution, but she was at a loss for what to do with the variety of care methods available online. I tried countless ointments and treatments, but the wound continued to get worse, and even black scabs grew and pus continued to ooze. When the black scab was uncovered, there was a shocking 4cm deep hole inside.
This case made me deeply realize the importance of awareness of bedsores and correct care methods. In order to prevent similar tragedies from happening again, I would like to share some practical nursing tips.
Tools do I need to prepare?
Scissors, tweezers, medical cotton balls, saline solution, silicone gel foam dressings, and alginate dressings.
The steps are as follows:
1. Cleaning: Clean the black scab and dead flesh on the wound, rinse the wound with saline, and wipe it dry with a cotton ball.
2. Apply the dressing: Then cut the alginate dressing into appropriate size and insert it into the wound close to the flesh wall.
3. Apply silicone gel foam dressing to the wound to protect and promote healing.
Care tips:
Keep the dressing clean when changing it. Except for the foam dressing, all other medicines need to be washed off. At the same time, help the patient to turn over every 1-2 hours, and apply a dressing on the side of the hip to prevent bedsores. In terms of diet, high-protein foods and fresh fruits and vegetables should be supplemented to promote wound healing.
Bedsores develop very quickly, but the recovery process is very long. Therefore, we need to provide patient and careful care and give patients enough love and support. We hope that by sharing these experiences, we can help more people avoid misunderstandings and allow patients with bedsores to receive better care and recovery.
