Do you know about vasculitis wounds?

Vasculitis is a group of diseases characterized by vascular inflammation, which involves blood vessels of different sizes and may lead to impaired blood supply to corresponding tissues and organs, or even tissue necrosis. Vasculitis wounds, especially skin wounds, require professional treatment and care to promote healing and reduce complications.

Vasculitis wounds formed?

Vasculitis is a disease involving inflammation of blood vessels that may lead to damage to multiple organs, including the skin. The cause of this inflammatory disease is often unknown, but it may be related to certain comorbidities, such as infection, malignancy, medication use, and connective tissue diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus. In the pathological process of vasculitis, circulating immune complexes (composed of antibodies and antigens) are deposited in the blood vessel wall, triggering inflammation. This inflammation may be segmental or may affect the entire vessel. In the area of inflammation, there may be varying degrees of cellular infiltration, necrosis, or scarring in one or more layers of the vessel wall. Inflammation, especially in the middle layer of the artery, may lead to destruction of the internal elastic lamina.

Manifestations of vasculitis:

The symptoms of vasculitis are extremely complex and varied, depending mainly on the type, size, and location of the affected blood vessels.

When blood vessels in the skin are affected, symptoms such as rash, purpura, and ulcers may occur.

How to treat vasculitis wounds?

1.Drug treatment: Drug treatment is the basis, which helps to control inflammation and relieve pain. Commonly used drugs include glucocorticoids and immunosuppressants, such as cyclophosphamide. In addition, in the treatment of anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-associated vasculitis, glucocorticoids are the basic treatment, and their dosage and usage vary depending on the site of vasculitis lesions.

2. Physical therapy: including cleaning and disinfection, keeping the wound clean, avoiding irritation and other measures to control infection and promote cell repair.

3. Surgical intervention: For severe vascular inflammation, surgical treatment can be chosen, such as bypass surgery, stenting, etc.

Care of vasculitis wounds :

Patients with vasculitis ulcers should pay great attention to skin care to avoid delayed wound treatment, the formation of chronic ulcers, and prolonged failure to heal. While undergoing systemic treatment, choosing timely and effective dressing methods can quickly control infection, promote cell repair, and accelerate wound healing. At the same time, we must do a good job in health education for patients and improve their quality of life.

The treatment and care of vasculitis wounds require multidisciplinary collaboration, including vascular surgery, dermatology, and internal medicine. Correct diagnosis, timely treatment, and careful care are essential to improving prognosis and quality of life for patients. Through medication, physical therapy, and surgical intervention when necessary, combined with professional wound care, vasculitis wounds can be effectively managed, promote healing, and reduce complications.
