How do you care for deep cuts?

Deep incisions are usually caused by sharp objects. They are common in daily life and heal very slowly. An external force is needed to prevent and reduce scar formation. The application of tension-reducing dressings is crucial for wound healing and scar minimization. Please follow me to see how to care for deep incisions.

Wound assessment and cleaning :

Before any care is performed, a comprehensive wound assessment should be performed, including the size, depth, signs of infection, and condition of the surrounding skin. Cleansing the wound is the first step in care, and washing deep wounds with sterile saline is often sufficient to remove debris. Avoid using chemicals that may irritate the wound.

Which dressings are effective in reducing scarring?

1: The main function of tension-reducing dressings is to reduce the tension on both sides of the incision and prevent the scar from widening. Tension reducers and tension-reducing patches are commonly used tension-reducing products. They promote wound healing and reduce scar formation by reducing the tension on the wound edge. Tension reducers, also known as needle-free skin tension-reducing sutures, are mainly used in areas with high skin tension while tension-reducing patches (seam-free tapes) are mostly used for neat wounds.

Second: Silicone gel scar dressing can form a moist environment in the scar area, which helps promote wound healing and reduce scar formation. A moist environment can accelerate epithelial tissue formation, relieve pain, and decompose necrotic tissue. Silicone gel can regulate and balance the release of cytokines, reduce the inflammatory response, and promote wound healing. In this way, silicone gel dressing helps reduce scar tissue formation. It can also improve microcirculation in the wound area and promote the formation of new blood vessels, accelerating tissue repair.

How to use tension-reducing products :

Tension-reducing products should be used as soon as possible, even after surgery. If the wound is not healed firmly, if you want to use it with other scar treatment products, you can use them together. After the scab falls off, use it with the tension-reducing product. The tension-reducing product can be used until the scar is stable, mainly manifested as no redness, hardness, itching or pain.

Care tips:

Watch for signs of infection, such as redness, swelling, heat, or pus discharge. Adjust your care plan as the wound heals.

By following the above steps, deep incisional wounds can be effectively managed, healing can be promoted, and the risk of complications can be reduced. The use of tension-relieving dressings is an important component of deep wound care, as it helps to reduce wound tension, thereby promoting healing and improving the final healing outcome.
