3. Disinfection steps:

- Using a spiral motion, start at the base of the navel and work your way outwards.

- Use your thumb and index finger to spread the area around your navel to expose the base of your navel.

- Disinfect with a cotton swab dipped in 75% alcohol.

4. Umbilical patch protection:

- If the navel is dry and in good condition, put on the diaper directly after disinfection, taking care not to rub the navel with the edge of the diaper.

- If the navel is moist, cover it with a navel patch to prevent infection.

Judgment and treatment of umbilical abnormalities:

Symptom 1: The navel discharges pus-like fluid or has a foul odor, and the navel and surrounding skin turn red and feel hot to the touch

Symptom 2: Umbilical bud/umbilical hernia

Umbilical bud: For chronic umbilical buds, do not puncture the cherry-like granulation in the middle by yourself without medical treatment.

Umbilical hernia: It also occurs in premature infants and usually heals itself around 2 years old.
