Can pimples be squeezed?

When it comes to acne, a common question is: Can you squeeze acne? This article will explore this question and introduce the role of acne patches and their correct use.

Acne formation and types :

The formation of acne is usually related to overactive sebaceous glands, keratinization of hair follicles, bacterial infection, and inflammatory response. According to the severity and type, acne can be divided into comedonal acne, papular acne, pustular acne, and cystic acne.

Can pimples be squeezed?

Small cystic acne with a diameter of less than 5mm can be squeezed. For mature pustular acne with obvious pus heads, if properly handled, it can help drain pus and accelerate healing. However, this requires correct technology and a sterile operating environment, and after the operation, acne patches must be applied to promote healing and prevent infection.

Do not squeeze pimples that are not yet fully mature in the early papule stage. Do not squeeze nodular and cystic pimples, as these pimples have already damaged the dermis of the skin.

How to squeeze pimples correctly?

Pimple removal tool :

Iodine or alcohol + acne needle + cotton swab needs to be disinfected with saline before and after use.

Operation steps: puncture the pus head at the top of the pustule, and use two cotton swabs to squeeze out the pus head from the periphery of the acne. If there is a lot of pus, you can slightly prick it and then squeeze it. If it is an acne-type small cyst, you can puncture it vertically, and then take targeted care afterward to repair it and avoid leaving acne marks.

Tips:

Do not squeeze pimples too repeatedly, squeeze the same spot repeatedly multiple times, or cause bleeding or bulging when squeezing pimples. In this case, squeezing pimples will not only damage the sebum membrane but also easily leave acne marks and even make the acne worse.

What do acne patches do?

Acne patches are made of hydrocolloid material, which can prevent external bacteria and pollutants from contacting the wound. They can also absorb pus and sebum from acne to reduce the risk of infection. They are transparent or skin-colored in design, which can provide a certain degree of concealer effect in daily activities.

It is not to squeeze pimples yourself, especially for deep nodules and cystic acne. The right way is to keep it clean, use acne patches for protection, and seek professional treatment when necessary. Acne patches are a useful auxiliary tool that can help manage acne, reduce the risk of infection, and provide a certain degree of concealer effect. However, they do not address the root cause of acne, so for the long-term management and treatment of acne, a healthy lifestyle and professional skin care are needed.
