What should I do if the sutured wound splits?

In daily life, we may encounter various accidental injuries, some of which may need to be treated by suturing. However, the wound after suturing sometimes cracks, which not only causes additional pain to the patient but also may affect the healing of the wound. So, when the sutured wound cracks, how should we deal with it? Let's follow me to find out.

How to suture a broken wound?

1. Seek medical attention immediately

First of all, if you find that the sutured wound is cracked, you should go to the hospital immediately to see a doctor for treatment. The doctor will assess the depth, length, and width of the wound according to the specific situation of the wound, as well as whether there are signs of infection, and then decide the  treatment plan.

2. Use post-reduction

For wound dehiscence that is not serious, doctors may recommend the use of a tension-reducing patch. The tension-reducing patch is a medical product that physically reduces the tension at the wound site to help the wound heal better. The use of a tension-reducing patch can reduce the tension during wound healing, thereby reducing scar formation. This accelerates the wound-healing process. It is also easy to use and patients can change it at home, reducing the inconvenience of frequent visits to the doctor.

Wound dehiscence may also result in secondary suture :

If the wound is more severe, the doctor may consider secondary suturing. In this case, the doctor will thoroughly clean and disinfect the wound to reduce the risk of infection. After the secondary suturing, the patient needs to pay special attention to wound care and go to the hospital regularly for dressing changes and stitch removal.

How to properly care for wounds?

Keep the wound clean: Clean the wound regularly to avoid infection.

Avoid excessive activity: Reduce activities that may increase tension on the wound.

Observe changes in the wound: Pay close attention to the healing of the wound and seek medical attention promptly if there are any abnormalities.

Wound dehiscence is a problem that requires prompt treatment. By using a tension-reducing patch and seeking medical attention promptly, we can effectively promote wound healing, reduce scarring, and avoid complications such as infection. Remember, no matter what the condition of the wound is, timely medical intervention is the key to ensuring the treatment outcome.
