Why do some people often get blisters on their feet?

In daily life, we may notice that some people are prone to blisters on their feet, while others are not. This phenomenon may be related to a variety of factors, including foot structure, dressing habits, and foot care. How can we prevent and deal with these problems through appropriate measures?

What factors are related to the formation of blisters?

Fallen arches: Fallen arches are a decrease in the height of the arch of the foot, which can be caused by genetics, aging, weight gain, or prolonged standing and walking. Fallen arches can cause the foot to have less support, putting more pressure on the foot when walking or exercising. This extra pressure can cause increased friction between the skin and the shoe, making it easier for blisters to form.

Flat feet: Flat feet are when the arch of the foot is completely or partially absent, and the sole of the foot is in contact with the ground with an increased area. When people with flat feet walk, the inside of the foot bears more pressure, which may increase friction on the inside of the foot, leading to the formation of blisters. Flat feet may also affect gait and cause blisters in other parts of the foot.

How can this be improved?

1. Step on the fascia ball

Place one foot on the fascia ball and roll back and forth for three minutes. Switch to the other foot every three minutes to fully massage the arch of the foot and exercise its stability.

2. Kneeling training

Kneel on the mat, put your legs and feet together, and press the insteps of your feet to the ground; sit on your heels, keep your back straight and upward, and hold for three minutes.

3. Grab your toes

Place your feet flat on the ground, step firmly on your heels, lift your big toe, and slowly press down to feel the muscles of your big toe exerting force. Do this for three minutes. You can also place a towel under your feet and do towel-grabbing exercises.

How we prevent such problems from happening?

Wearing the right shoes is the key to preventing blisters. The shoes should have enough space, not be too tight or too narrow, and have good breathability and shock absorption. If you have arch problems, use arch insoles to correct them in time, and add the above foot training methods. When exercising, you can use blister stickers to reduce friction between the skin and the shoes and protect areas that are prone to blisters.

Frequent blisters on the feet may be caused by a variety of factors, including structural problems of the feet such as collapsed arches and flat feet, as well as inadequate foot care. By choosing the right shoes, using blister patches, exfoliating regularly, and keeping your feet dry, you can effectively prevent and reduce the occurrence of blisters.
