Four common types of openness

In life, we are bound to encounter various accidents, among which open wounds are extremely common. These wounds are not only extremely painful, but if not treated promptly and correctly, they may also cause serious infections, affect wound healing, and even endanger life. So, what are the five common open wounds in life? How should we properly treat them after being injured?

An open wound?

Open wounds refer to injuries that connect the internal tissues (such as muscles, bones, etc.) of the injured part to the outside world. Such wounds are usually accompanied by bleeding or exposed muscles and bones. Common open wounds in life mainly include abrasions, lacerations, puncture wounds, cuts, etc.

What are the four types?

1. Abrasion: It is caused by tangential friction between the injuring object and the skin surface, that is, superficial damage caused by the friction between the skin and the rough injuring object. The injured part only has epidermal peeling, a small amount of bleeding, and exudation, and the injury is generally mild.

2. Laceration: Blunt force acting on the body surface can cause contusion tearing and rupture of the skin and soft tissue. The wound edges are irregular, the surrounding tissues are extensively damaged, and the wounds may be flap-shaped, linear, or star-shaped depending on the pulling method and direction. The wounds are seriously contaminated.

3. Stab wound: An injury caused by a thin, sharp object inserted into the soft tissue. Although the wound is not large, deep tissues and organs may be damaged and difficult to detect. Stab wounds can easily cause deep infections, especially anaerobic infections.

4. Cutting and slashing: injuries caused by sharp objects (such as knife blades, axes). The wound edges are relatively neat and the depth of injury varies depending on the external force. In severe cases, deep tendons, blood vessels, and nerves may be broken.

How to deal with it at home?

After an injury, the thing we need to do is to stop the bleeding in time, and then clean and disinfect the wound. For minor abrasions and lacerations, you can use a Band-Aid or bandage to bandage them; for serious stab wounds and cuts, you need to see a doctor immediately and have a professional doctor perform debridement and suture treatment.
